{weekly round-up: thanksgiving decorations}

As the air gets chillier, the leaves begin to fall and Thanksgiving nears, I’m beginning to start thinking about new ways to decorate the Thanksgiving table. I’ve been turning to the internet and magazines to find inspiration for creative styling. … Continue reading

{little bit of life: women of faith conference}

This past weekend I had the opportunity to head to Kansas City for the weekend with my Mom and some friends. Part of our weekend was spent at the Women of Faith: Survival to Revival Conference at the Sprint Center. When we signed up for this Conference a few months back, it never occurred to me that God was placing this on my schedule at the perfect time! Going into the conference, I was expecting a weekend of rejuvenation and relaxation, a time of worship and fellowship. I wasn’t expecting the speakers to share words of encouragement and power, leaving me thinking they were just speaking to me. From hilarious comedians like Anita Renfroe (check her out, you won’t regret it), to the raw honesty of Sheila Walsh and the words of Lisa TerKeurst, everything hit home. I especially loved hearing from Lisa because as the Founder of Proverbs 31 Ministries, I have been following her online for quite some time and really appreciate the work she does. Lisa just came out with a new book, “The Best Yes”- I’m looking forward to reading it. Outside of the speakers, Natalie Grant and Matthew West performed! SO GREAT! Definitely a highlight of Friday & Saturday.

For the sake of honesty and being open, this week was filled with so many emotional and mental ups and downs in all aspects of my life. As crazy as it sounds, I know that God put that conference before this week to prepare me for the challenges that would arise, it served as a refresher, totally living up to the namesake and theme of the conference! I’m so thankful. It amazes me at how sometimes all we need is a little refocus, and day by day, I’m doing just that. Through the good and the bad, the times that we doubt and the many times that we fall short…God is there. Always there.

If you ever have the opportunity to grab some girlfriends and go to this mini-conference, I highly recommend it! After we wrapped up around 4 PM on Saturday, Mom and I ventured out to do some shopping and dining in the KC area, including stops at The Melting Pot & Trader Joe’s- pure happiness. 🙂 What a great weekend!

What’s next? This girl going to get ready for the first K-State football game of the season! GO CATS!

best, courtney
