I am a beach girl that is 1,000% happy when surrounded by water, listening to the sound of waves crashing and catching a beautiful sunset. I know that when I retire many many many years from now, it will be to a beach. Lots and lots of beach! Last week we returned from a Christmas break trip to Destin, Florida. This was our first visit to the Destin area, and wow was I impressed. Our house address was in Miramar Beach, right on the border of Destin proper. I had no idea what to expect really, and was so full of joy to find clear water and white sandy beaches. Usually when we travel, we are go go go and find time to soak in lots of sights and hit the beach…this trip was all about the R&R and reading as many books as our five days allowed. 🙂 With some big decisions about my future year to be made during my time away, it was so nice to just sit back, relax and have time to think and reflect. Armed with a new camera, I spent many a moments walking the beach!
Our personal preference is to rent houses over hotel rooms when traveling because it is a great way to cut costs on food expenses and also give us our own space to spread out. While in Destin, we rented from Frangista Beach Properties– I highly recommend them! There were many options to choose from and the company was very attentive and prompt to respond to any requests. The house we chose had several balconies, which was great for soaking in the oceanfront views and serenity.
Like I mentioned earlier, we really had no plans for the vacation outside of relaxing, but we did venture out for dinner a few nights. While in the area, my absolute FAVORITE place we went to eat was Boshamps Seafood & Oyster House. Oh my lanta, it was tasty!! Just yummy. It also offered up beautiful views of the harbor and boats to check out while dining. If you’re in the area, GO! I promise it will be worth it.
Looking out from the second floor was my favorite!
The sand was sooooo soft and had some great beach vegetation up towards the house.
This is without a doubt my favorite photo of our trip! I just love colors and how the crashing waves were captured.
I saw my first real, live starfish! It was so neat. This little fella washed up for a minute, and then was carried back out to sea.
The sun was definitely trying to peak through on a few days!
Love. Love. Love. I found myself setting my alarm to get up for the sunrise and eagerly awaiting the sunsets.
I snapped this photo of my parents as they walked along the beach. I just love how they do life together and can’t wait to have something special like they do someday! 🙂 They are simply the best.
You gotta throw what you know! Sigma Kappa lovin’.
Now back in Kansas, I’m missing the warmer weather, but thankful for the time we got to spend away. I am looking forward to the next adventure!
