I’ve been making “eat out less” a goal of mine since what seems like forever. This time I’m sticking to it y’all. I mean it. 🙂 If you could see my kitchen table right now, you’d see that it is a big ole mess full of cookbooks that are tabbed and spread out everywhere (I’ll spare you from the photo). Right now, I’m working through The Taste of Home Cookbook (this is seriously my FAVORITE cookbook ever) and Hungry Girl 1-2-3, another favorite. I’ve also been checking out the internet a lot to do some recipe research, which is where I found the inspiration for this recipe from Married Claire. This recipe features several of my favorite things- limes, cilantro and olive oil!
Here’s what you’ll need:
1 lb. sirloin steak
1/3 cup soy sauce
1/2 cup olive oil
1 tablespoon sesame oil
3 limes, juiced
2 garlic cloves, finely minced
1/4 cup of cilantro, chopped
1 teaspoon sugar
Steps to follow:
- Place all ingredients in a bowl and mix thoroughly.
- In an airtight container, pour ingredients over steak, close and marinate for at least 5 hours. Occasionally rotate steak in container to make sure it is being evenly covered.
- Cook steak with your desired method. I chose to cook mine on the stove top. Heat pan to medium-high heat and cook steak for about 4 minutes on each side, or until desired doneness.
- Let rest for a few minutes before serving.
I like to serve up my steak with a little cilantro lime basamati rice. To make this quick side, simply cook rice according to package directions. Once cooked, stir in about 3 tablespoons of chopped cilantro and the juice of 1 fresh lime. Enjoy! As for me, I’m going back to an episode of Duck Dynasty and cookbook searching 🙂
